"They that love beyond the world cannot be separated. Death cannot kill what never dies. Nor can Spirits ever be divided that love and live in the same Divine Principle; the Root and Record of their Friendship.
Death is but crossing the world, as Friends to the seas; they live in one another still." - William Penn

Trez
In Memory of Trez

Trez was found in a carrier outside the door of the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic on June 13, 2018. His nails were overgrown, he had ear mites, and he was not neutered. And he was terrified; he had been abandoned by the family that he thought had loved him. We promised Trez that he would always be loved and that he would never feel scared, neglected or abandoned again. Trez was born about February 13, 2017.

Trez began to flourish under our care and we got to learn what a sweet and cuddly little boy he was. He enjoyed laying across our shoulders or sitting on our back if we knelt down. And he was quite the conversationalist -- he always had something to say about everything! He was also very good at keeping us in line with a quick nip to the hand -- he was never mean about it, he just wanted to remind us who was in charge!

We noticed that Trez suffered from bouts of diarrhea. A diagnosis of irritable bowel disease (IBD) came later in the year. His symptoms were managed with a diet of Royal Canin Selected Protein food, steroids, and a monthly B12 injection -- he took everything in stride and never made a fuss.

This diagnosis led him to meet Atlas, another orange kitty with IBD. The two became instant best friends and they enjoyed rolling around in catnip, drinking from the water tap and curling up together for naps. Their four-year friendship was, unfortunately, cut short on May 26, 2023 when we had to say goodbye to Atlas after a short battle with cancer. We could tell that Trez was heartbroken over losing Atlas. He soon had a new roommate, Shirley and they were eventually joined by Groves and Klink. He got along well with them all, although he never formed a bond with them like he had with Atlas.

In early September, 2024, Trez started to sound congested. He was prone to getting upper respiratory infections, so was started on a course of antibiotics. This time, however, he didn't respond to the medication, so his vet did some further investigating. On September 20th, Trez was diagnosed with cancer. A tumour was growing in his left nostril and it would eventually spread to the right side. He was put on a higher dose of steroids and his breathing returned to normal. We knew this would only be a temporary fix, but it allowed us a few more weeks of cuddles and conversations, and Trez got to soak up some of the last warm days of summer in his catio.

On October 18, 2024, we said goodbye to our precious Trez. The steroids had stopped working and his breathing was becoming laboured. He was surrounded by family as he made his way to Rainbow Bridge where we know he is now running, playing and cuddling once more with Atlas.

We kept our promise, Trez. You knew love from your first day with us to your last. We will always love you.
Furgie
In Memory of Furgie
Furgie came into our lives on January 31, 2019 when she and seventeen of her friends were rescued from a hoarding situation in Fredericton. Initially quite timid, Furgie soon learned that we were there to love and take care of her and we watched as she blossomed into a friendly, sweet and affectionate girl.
In July 2020 we discovered Furgie had become diabetic. Thus began four years of twice daily insulin injections and regular blood sugar tests. She didn't mind, though, and we never once heard her complain. Furgie also required daily stool softeners as her diabetes left her experiencing bouts of constipation. And again, no complaints from this girl; in fact, she would get excited watching us get it ready and would happily accept it when offered to her!
In May 2021, she met Gaia, a newly surrendered cat who was also diabetic, and the two became fast friends, never too far from one another and often curling up in the same bed for naps. She was soon joined by three more diabetic kitties, Josie, Lawrence and Blurry (since adopted), and she immediately accepted each one of them as her new friends.
On June 5, 2024, we noticed that Furgie had become quiet and lethargic, and she had no appetite. Furgie never turned down a meal, so we knew that she was not feeling well and we booked her an appointment with her favourite vet. The results of this appointment left everyone brokenhearted: Furgie had free fluid in her abdomen and severe dilation of her stomach, which was making it difficult to breathe. We said goodbye to our beloved Furgie on the afternoon of June 6th.
Furgie was an easy-going girl who enjoyed the simple things of life: good food, being brushed, and finding a warm lap to curl up on. We are going to miss how she would scold us for taking too long to get her food ready; we could never get it ready fast enough! We are going to miss seeing her and Gaia curled up together for a good cat nap. We are going to miss calling her by some of our favourite nicknames: Furg, Furgeson and Furgilicious.
We are grateful to have been Furgie's family for the past five years. We are going to miss you, sweet Furgie. We love you.
Astrayea
 In Memory of Astrayea

Astrayea came to DunRoamin’ on September 17, 2021 from the Woodstock area when her family was no longer able to care for her. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, prescribed medication, and began feeling better in no time. She also required a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food as she was prone to getting crystals in her urine. Astrayea joined our “Sponsor a Kitty” program; she was very grateful to her sponsors for helping to provide her with the prescription food and medication she needed. She lived with several cats in our reception area until November 29, 2021, when she was invited by a wonderful family to be their foster kitty.

Astrayea flourished in their care. She enjoyed being the center of attention and getting all of the treats, cuddles and belly rubs she wanted. She was her foster mom’s shadow, never straying too far from her. And she enjoyed playing with her foster dad every night when he got home from work. Every Sunday, Astrayea’s foster mom would send us lots of photos and would let us know what Astrayea had been up to that week – we always enjoyed reading those emails.

Astrayea was born around September 16, 2009, so was well into her teen years. Her thyroid was well-controlled with medication, but she began experiencing bouts of constipation and, later on, urinary incontinence. Medications helped to alleviate her symptoms. Her mom was diligent about administering these medications, even if Astrayea wasn’t always that cooperative!

In December, 2024, Astrayea’s health began to decline. She had lost her appetite, was dehydrated and pale. Astrayea’s kidneys were failing. On December 12, 2024, Astrayea had her mom by her side as she passed to Rainbow Bridge. Words can’t express how grateful we are to her foster family for all of the love, care and dedication they showed to Astrayea during her three years with them. She was a very fortunate girl to know such love. Astrayea’s mom wrote this in memory of her girl:

When I first saw Astrayea's photo, I immediately knew that we had to be in each other's lives, and when we first met, she seemed to have felt the same way; we bonded instantly.

Astrayea was very smart and snuggly; we definitely had our own way of communicating, she could always tell me what she wanted or demanded, at times. She had a feistiness to her that only made us love her even more. She loved head rubs, cheek scratches, bird watching, sleeping in and "rough housing" with dad after work.

Three years is not nearly enough time to have had with her, my heart is broken, and we will miss her forever. I am so grateful I got to know her and have her in my life, she was a very special kitty indeed.
Chicory
In Memory of Chicory

On June 24, 2010, Chicory and his siblings Timothy, Marigold and Rose entered into DunRoamin’s care. They were reunited with their sister, Flower, who had been found in a nearby location two days earlier. These little kittens were about three weeks, having been born around June 1st, so were too young to be away from their mom, but no mom could be found. They were fed and stimulated to go to the bathroom every few hours by their foster mom until they got old enough to do this on their own.

They grew into happy and healthy little kittens, and Chicory was so happy to be adopted into a home in Windsor in August of 2010. But he returned to us in July of 2011 when he began peeing inappropriately. He was treated for a urinary tract infection, and didn’t miss the litter box after that.

Chicory found a new home in February 2012 and his friend Chiffon got to go with him. They lived happily in their home until February of 2019 when they needed to return to us; their owner, unfortunately, needed to move into a special care home and was no longer able to care for them. He then spent two years in a home in the Bath area, but returned to DunRoamin’ on December 6, 2022, when his family was no longer able to care for him. Upon his return, his vet found that Chicory had lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was prescribed medication, which improved his condition greatly – he began feeling so much better! In May, 2022, his friend Chiffon passed away; she had developed a cancerous mass that had spread rapidly.

On March 8, 2023, Chicory was invited to live with a family in Moncton who had seen him online and had fallen in love. And, they also had a cat with hyperthyroidism who required the same medication. It seemed like a perfect fit but, unfortunately, Chicory decided he didn’t like their cat, so he, for the last time, returned to DunRoamin’.

It took a little while for Chicory to settle back in and get along with his new friends. Initially, he preferred to spend his days in one of our offices, curled up on a bed beside the computer so he could keep an eye on us as we worked. His favourite spot then became a cozy blanket inside a cardboard box; it was up high, offering him a vantage point of the room which allowed him to still make sure we were working.

Chicory was a quiet, sweet and unassuming old man. He didn’t hear all that well, but he always knew when we shook a treat container! He loved his treats and getting lots of pats, and his gentle eyes would always say “Thank you.”

In mid-November 2024, our vet found Chicory to be quite dehydrated so he was started on daily subcutaneous fluids. She also ran some bloodwork which showed that our dear friend was in liver failure. We vowed to make Chicory’s remaining time with us as comfortable and as full of treats and cuddles as we could. On November 26th, Chicory appeared very lethargic and he was pale. Examination by his vet revealed the following: he had a perforated bowel and fluid in his abdomen, most likely the result of lymphoma. It was time to say goodbye. He was surrounded by his caregivers, had some of his favourite treats and received lots of pats as he passed to Rainbow Bridge.

We miss you, Chicky. Say “Hi” to Chiffon for us.
Lou
In Memory of Lou
On December 7, 2022, we met Lou, a senior boy who had been trying to survive in the Perth Andover area. Lou was not in good shape and it was evident that he needed medical attention.
Examination by his new vet friend found the following: he was skinny and dehydrated, had ears full of ear mites, ropey intestines, a heart murmur, and poor range of motion in one of his hips, suggesting an old injury that wasn't treated. Lou was already neutered, so may have belonged to someone at one point. He was born around December 8, 2012, making him about 10 years old upon his arrival.
Lou spent his first several days with us just eating, sleeping and regaining his strength. He was a sweet old man who wasn't afraid of voicing his concerns if we took too long getting his food ready or if we didn't pet him enough (or if we petted him too much!).
On January 22, 2023, he was invited to spend his retirement years in a wonderful foster home. He had many cozy places to curl up for a nap, and he enjoyed watching the wildlife from the patio door. He liked having a variety of food and treats to choose from (his tastes changed often!), so his foster mom made sure to keep him well-stocked with all of the most tasty food. Lou was later diagnosed with kidney disease and needed medication to help manage his condition, and he did well for quite a while.
But a decline in health prompted a visit with his vet on July 11, 2024. It was not good news. Lou's kidney disease had advanced, his heart murmur had worsened significantly, and he was becoming unsteady on his hind legs. It was time to say goodbye. He was with the person he loved most, his foster mom, as he peacefully made his way to Rainbow Bridge.
Lou's foster mom wrote this:
Today we lost Lou, our grumpy old man! He came to DunRoamin' on December 7, 2022, a stray in rough shape, already neutered so must have had a home at some point. His new vet diagnosed many health conditions and prescribed meds to help.
Lou was a sweet old cat who certainly knew what he wanted, demanding a good selection of food and choice of places to sleep. We will miss his very loud meow and demanding ways.
Huxley
Memory of Huxley

Huxley came to DunRoamin' on April 4, 2011 from the Hartland area. He was not in good shape: he had frostbite, diarrhea, bite wounds and he was starving. He also had large tear wounds on his sides; it was suspected that a large, predatory bird had tried to pick him up. Huxley was born around May 1st, 2010; he was only a year old and had already experienced so much trauma.

He met his new vet friend who treated his injuries and soon he was feeling so much better. We learned what a sweet and gentle cat Huxley was, and he soaked up all of the love and attention he could get. And he had the cutest and most unique voice. We often said that he had a slight speech impediment because he couldn't say "Meow;" instead it would sound more like "mrrr-owww!"

Huxley was adopted on July 4, 2011 to a home in Bath where he spent many wonderful years with his humans. He returned to DunRoamin' on December 26, 2023 when his owners were no longer able to care for him. He was now a senior at 13 years old and was starting to show his age; he was slim, had a heart murmur, and was experiencing diarrhea. But he was still the same sweet and cuddly cat we knew from years before, and he had kept his little speech impediment, which we were happy to hear again.

In March 2024, he was invited to live with an amazing lady who tended to his every need and made sure he never wanted for anything. He had cozy beds (and her lap) to sleep on, lots of tasty food and all of the cuddles he wanted. She kept a watchful eye on him as his health began to deteriorate and she made sure he had everything he needed to stay comfortable and happy. But on October 19th, 2024, it was time to say goodbye. We are eternally grateful to his foster mom for welcoming Huxley into her home and showering him with love for the short time he was with her; he was a lucky boy to know such love.

We are going to miss you, Huxley, and your cute little "mrrr-owww."
Arnold
In Memory of Baylan

Baylan, formerly Arnold, came to DunRoamin' on June 28, 2023 when he, eleven other kittens and three adult cats were rescued from a colony in the Florenceville area. He was skinny, had parasites and an upper respiratory infection. But good food, medication and lots of love had him feeling better in no time. Baylan was born about May 11, 2023.

He was a happy little kitten who enjoyed playing with his friends and curling up in a big kitten pile for naps. He had the sweetest personality and loved getting cuddles from his human caregivers.

We were so excited for Baylan when he officially became a member of a wonderful family in Fredericton on January 12, 2024. He settled right in and was loved beyond measure by his new family. Unfortunately, their time together would be cut short when Baylan became sick and passed away from his illness on August 15, 2024.

We wish Baylan and his family could have had more time together. We are grateful to them for providing this sweet little boy with a loving home -- we're sure he knew just how special and loved he was. His family sent along these words in memory of their boy:

"He was loved by us and made us extremely happy as we loved him for the 7 months we had him. We gave him a home that he deserved and we will cherish the memories we had with him."
Goochi
In Memory of Goochi

Goochi came to DunRoamin' on January 28, 2011 along with two siblings. Having been living outside, she was very cold and had fleas, ear mites and worms. Goochi was born around December 7, 2010, so was only about 10 weeks old.

Goochi was happy to have the company of other cats, but she was never very fond of humans. She would often run and hide if someone approached or tried to pat her. It took several years before she would start to trust her human caregivers; slowly over time she would allow a little pat here or a chin scratch there. Eventually, she came to enjoy being patted by the people she knew and trusted most.

Ten years after coming to DunRoamin', Goochi was invited to live in a wonderful foster home. Goochi was happy to accept the invitation; she knew her new foster mother from her time volunteering with us. It took Goochi a little while to settle into her new place (she'd never had a home of her own before!), but she soon learned she was in a safe place with someone who loved her, and her personality began to blossom. Goochi was officially adopted on May 31, 2023.

We are forever grateful to her mom for taking a chance on this shy senior girl. Goochi had the opportunity to learn what it was like to live in a house with someone who loved her, and she was loved greatly by her mom for three years. Her mom wrote this in memory of Goochi:

It is with the biggest sadness that I must announce that my beloved Goochi has crossed the rainbow bridge on August 16.

Goochi and I bonded three years ago after I decided to foster her. She was extremely shy and kept hiding in any corner she could find. With patience and love, Goochi began to come out of her shell. Slowly, she started by sharing the bed with me, then the couch, then she finally sat on my lap and demanded love. With every new day, Goochi would explore her new life and she began to love how we would snuggle at night, her head resting on my shoulder or making bread on my stomach. Goochi just needed to be given a chance. She loved to yell for breakfast to then snuggle and get petted on her head and back. Goochi loved to help with any work I had to do, making sure to sit near or me to supervise. When I got sick, Goochi would never leave my side and made sure to bring me comfort by either laying on me or on my head, she couldn't be away from me. I loved her with all my heart.

On the morning of August 16 2024, Goochi was very unwell. After a month of drastically losing weight and unable to keep down her food, Goochi was rushed to the vet where she was diagnosed with a large tumor in her stomach and kidneys, which was stating to migrate to her liver. I made the hardest decision of my life and decided to let her go. I did not want to see her in pain more than I had already have. She went to sleep in my arms, her little nose in the crook of my elbow. She was loved before, during, and after her life.
Goochi was a scared cat that everyone ignored because of her shyness, but I gave her a chance. I loved her so much and she became a part of me. She was and will always be my best friend, and I will remember her forever. She was a special girl that had much love to give if given the chance and I am so glad I took that chance, those three short years will have been the best years of my life with her.
Audrey
In Memory of Audrey

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Audrey.

Audrey was rescued in 2015 after she suffered injuries from a dog attack. Her foster family quickly fell in love, and so began the exciting journey of the rest of her life.

It was a wonderful life. Audrey lived the way we hope and pray all DunRoamin' rescues get to experience - a life of joy as members of families who love them beyond measure. We are so sorry for the pain of her loss, but eternally grateful you had each other.

In the words of Winnie the Pooh - "How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
Shivers
 In Memory of Kashka

We first met Kashka (known to us as Shivers) in November of 2018 after being transferred to our care from the NBSPCA. She was thin and cold, but otherwise in good spirits (especially if there was a ball around). Kashka went to live with her foster family who quickly fell in love and were certain she would find her forever home very soon.

They were right. That Christmas, Kashka met her forever people became the newest member of a wonderful family whom had previously welcomed Brookside (aka Brooke), another DunRoamin' alumni, to their home two years prior. So began the best years of Kashka's life. She lived a life any dog would desire - loved beyond words and wanting for nothing. Kashka was a fixture in her family, with daily routines centered around her and her four-legged companions. She even enjoyed summer vacations alongside Brooke and was featured on the inner labels of White Pup Moonshine Creek product for a time in 2022!

Unfortunately, like so many beloved rescue companions, Kashka's body aged faster than her mind. Despite diligent support and intervention, her family had to say their final goodbyes on October 23rd. Kashka's enthusiasm for chasing toys, piercing blue eyes, and love of life will be dearly missed by all who had had the joy and privilege of meeting her. We are so grateful to her family giving her the life she truly deserved.
Sharon
We are sending our condolences out to the family of adopted DunRoamin' kitty Sharon.

Sharon came to Dunroamin' in 2020 as a blind senior girl who could be pretty... particular about things. Her amazing family eagerly adopted the special needs girl and she called New Maryland home for almost four love-filled years.

Sharon passed away in the early hours of April 1, 2024, of a blood clot (saddle thrombus), held by her loving family.

She was the best friend of Kyla and Remi and will be sadly missed by her best buddy Derp, the only other cat she allowed the honour of sleeping with her.

Sharon's default mode was purring cuddles. She slept on or beside her mother every single night and woke her up every morning by pawing at her face. Very well-loved cat, spoiled (as she very well deserved) by her family.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her humans and her numerous adoring fans.
Pepsi
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family who adopted Pepsi and his brother Coke in 2011 (known previously as Dewey and Disney). His family reached out to us recently to inform us he had passed away. They shared this obituary they had written and it is clear he was loved beyond measure:

Obituary for Pepsi 22 May 2011 -- 24 May 2024

2 days ago it was my 13th birthday (91 in cat years) I was born in a foster home and looked after by kind humans until I was 12 weeks old and then left to live with my chosen guardians. I had a fun and loving home with brothers and humans who loved me. And I showed them my love by tucking them in at night and then waking them up for my breakfast early in the morning.
I've had diabetes for about 4 years which was well managed by my humans but that was not what shortened my life. I had cancer. As we all know Cancer is not fussy who it picks, my vet humans were always very kind to me and treated me well but there was nothing they could do to save me this time -- I died after a very short illness and so now I run free over the Rainbow bridge with all my brothers I leave behind my two grieving humans (and a lot of others who loved me) and my blood brother Coke (who I know will miss me too) we have never been separated since our birth so it's going to be tough on him. However , until we meet again, I leave you with all the love I taught
you - look after each other.

Rest in rainbow paradise, sweet Pepsi
Mrs Claws
We would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mrs. Claws who passed away on the morning of July 6, 2024.

Mrs. Claws came to DunRoamin' on December 24, 2013. She was wearing a collar that had become embedded in the armpit of one of her front legs; she had tried reaching her leg through to get it off, but had gotten it stuck instead. She was cold, very hungry and in a lot of pain. Excellent veterinary care soon had her feeling much better.

Mrs. Claws spent four years with us while waiting for her forever home. She was often overlooked due to her sometimes cranky personality. But, in December of 2017, she met a family that fell in love with her. She went to live with them and she settled in very well; she especially enjoyed the company of her little humans.

We are so grateful to her family for providing her with a loving home and family for the past seven years.
Nerissa In Memory of Nerissa Nerissa came to us on April 3, 2024 from the Woodstock area along with several friends. Born only about three days previously, she was not in good shape. Provided with immediate veterinary care, she was unable to overcome her seizures, low temperature, emaciation and low blood sugar. Sadly, she left us in the early afternoon of April 3, 2023. We wish we had known you sooner, Nerissa. We know you are now happy, healthy and experiencing the best at Rainbow Bridge.
Zora
In Memory of Zora
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Zora on the morning of August 6, 2024. She was surrounded by her DunRoamin' family as she made her way to Rainbow Bridge.
Zora came to us on March 3, 2024 from the Oakland area. Her family was splitting up and, as there was no other place for her to go, she came to us. Zora was only four years old, having been born around June 3, 2020.
It took Zora a little while to settle in, but she soon learned she was amongst friends. She moved into our Gen Pop room and made friends with the cats there. And in April she went to the Purrfect Cup Cat Cafe in Fredericton where she had hoped to meet her new family.
Zora returned to DunRoamin' at the end of July when it was observed that she had become withdrawn and had lost weight. Examination with her vet on August 1st revealed the devastating reason for her weight loss; she had multiple cancerous mammary tumors and would need a chain mastectomy. This, however, wouldn't happen. On the morning of August 6th, Zora was having difficulty breathing and was taken to the vet clinic where it was learned that the cancer had spread rapidly. There was nothing we could do but to help her pass peacefully.
We are honoured to have had Zora as part of our family. We wish it could have been longer than the few months we had, but we are comforted in knowing that she is healthy and pain-free now at Rainbow Bridge. We are going to miss you, sweet girl.
Binou
"Billie" and her four tiny babies came to us on April 21, 2024, from Pembroke, NB, where they had been born into a home that was unable to care for them. Billie is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a wonderful personality. She is very loving and affectionate with humans, and she loves and cares for her babies very well.Billie has two little orange tabby girls, Barley and Barque and two little grey tabby boys, Banter and Binou. Orange tabby girls are a little more rare than orange tabby boys. The four tiny ones were born about April 8, 2024. Barque and Barley may have something called "Swimmer's Syndrome," which is a congenital condition that causes their hind legs to splay. We will know much more in a few weeks once they have grown a bit and been reassessed by their vet. We will post more as we learn more about these little guys! In the meantime, donations to help with their medical care are greatly appreciated.
Russell
In Memory of Russell
On June 6, 2024 we met Russell, a sweet old man who was struggling to survive in the Bath area. Kind people had caught him and brought him to us for help.
Russell was born around October 11, 2011 and weighed less than six pounds on his arrival. His new vet friend diagnosed him with a heart murmur, arthritis, a slight cataract on his eye, and he would need dental extractions when healthy. He was also emaciated and had ear mites. And, on top of all of this, bloodwork revealed that he had hyperthyroidism, so he was started on medication to help correct this.
Despite everything, Russell was a sweet old man who couldn't stop purring and loved being held close to cuddle. He was happy to have an unending supply of food; when he polished off one bowl of wet food, another would appear before him. Things seemed to be going well, but then Russell began to lose his appetite; he spent some time at the Florenceville Vet Clinic to help manage a fever that had developed, then he was back here with us at DunRoamin'.
On June 11th, the people who had brought Russell to us managed to catch his friend, who we've called Rupert. Having spent so much time together being strays, the boys were happy to be reunited, cared for and loved. We were looking forward to seeing Russell become healthy and the boys finding a loving forever home together.
That, unfortunately, wouldn't happen. On the morning of June 17th, Russell was taken to the clinic where his vet found that he had a perforated bowel and his little body had become septic. We had to say goodbye.
We can take comfort in knowing that for almost two weeks, Russell was loved, he had medical care, and all of the snacks he wanted. Thank you for the purrs and cuddles, Russell. We'll miss you.
Ouija
 In Memory of Ouija

Ouija came to DunRoamin' on October 30th, 2024 from the Southampton area. She was very tiny for her age, weighing in at just 268g. Ouija was born around September 30th, so at four weeks old she should have been closer to 400g. She was also dehydrated, covered in fleas, and cold - her temperature was 36.4* but should have been closer to 39*.

Ouija went into the care of her foster mother who has lots of experience caring for tiny and vulnerable little kittens. She had a warm, heated bed at all times, and was syringe-fed and stimulated to go to the bathroom every few hours. Ouija began having watery diarrhea, which left her even more dehydrated. The diagnosis was toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease. She was prescribed oral and injectable antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, a probiotic supplement and a cream to help soothe irritated skin caused by the diarrhea.

She soon began to feel better and she finished all of her medications the last week in November. She was eating on her own and putting on weight, although she was still a lot smaller than she should have been for her age. But she was bright and playful, often preferring to wrestle with her beds and blankets over her toys.

It was also near the end of November when her foster mom noticed that Ouija wasn't walking properly on her right front foot - instead of her toe pad touching the floor, her toes would point upward when walking. And over the next week, Ouija's mobility would worsen. As the days went on, Ouija's front legs would become increasingly more bowed, and she wasn't able to walk flat-footed. Examination by her vet on December 5th revealed that the bones in both of her front legs were not growing correctly or at the rate they should be. This was causing her much pain, and would only become more painful as time passed. There was nothing that could be done to correct this, so the difficult decision was made to say goodbye. Ouija left us on the afternoon of December 6, 2024. She was only nine weeks old.

Little Ouija and her big personality are missed greatly. Her absolute favourite thing to do was to cuddle. She would curl up under a blanket in her foster mother's arms and just purr away. She loved having her chin scratched, and she had the most ticklish belly her foster mom had ever seen in a kitten!

We are sad to have lost you, Ouija, but are grateful to know that your time with us was filled with so much love. And that you're now running free at Rainbow Bridge with your perfect little legs. We love you, Ouija.
Priya
In Memory of Priya

On the afternoon of August 28, 2024, we met this beautiful little tabby and white kitten whom we called Priya. She was taken in by a family but they quickly noticed that she was in a lot of pain when she tried to defecate.

She was immediately taken to the Florenceville Vet Clinic where her vet discovered the cause of all of her pain. Priya was born with a condition called atresia ani - her anus lacked an opening for feces to exit her body. Instead, her body created a fistula, or opening, which allowed feces to exit through her vulva. Prognosis was not good for little Priya: she would face a lifetime of incontinence and painful urinary tract infections. We said goodbye to Priya just one hour after meeting her.

Priya was only about 10 weeks old, having been born around June 13, 2024. It saddens us to know that she spent her entire life not knowing what it felt like to be pain-free. She was a trooper, though, and purred the entire time she was with us. She soaked up all of the chin scratches and kisses on her little nose she could get, and she happily devoured some Churu treats. We made her last moments as comfortable and as full of love as possible. We'll miss you, little one.
Dory
In Memory of Dory

Dory came to DunRoamin' on the afternoon of September 3, 2024. She was wandering on the Trans Canada highway near the Florenceville exit and had run in front of a car. The driver noticed that Dory seemed unwell and underweight, so she was brought to us for help.

As soon as we saw Dory, we knew that she needed help, so we immediately had her seen at the Florenceville Vet Clinic. We learned that she was dehydrated, severely underweight at just 3.7lbs, and she had a massive tumor in her mouth - it was so big that she could barely close her mouth. Dory was about 12 years old, having been born around September 3, 2012.

Despite the pain she was in, Dory was a sweet little girl who was happy to climb into our arms for cuddles. We are grateful for the short time we had with her; she had friends and knew love before she passed. Rest easy, little girl.
Freeze
 In Memory of Freeze

Freeze came to DunRoamin' on the afternoon of December 4th, 2024, from the Carlow area. He was breathing fast, twitching and was stiff. He was immediately assessed by his new vet at the Florenceville Vet Clinic. Tests revealed that he had ethylene gylcol crystals in his urine and his kidneys were shutting down. Freeze was suffering from the effects of antifreeze toxicity.

Freeze was around four years old. We had to say goodbye to our new friend less than an hour after meeting him. We wish we would have had the chance to get to know you better, Freeze, but we are comforted in knowing that you are pain free, healthy and happy now at Rainbow Bridge.

Lou
