Sponsor a Kitty!

The sponsor a kitty program was created to help those kitties in our care who may have a medical condition such as diabetes, feline leukemia, allergies, heart issues, kidney issues or feline immune-deficiency virus (to name a few) or who may require ongoing medication or prescription food while they await their forever home. Under our care, no animal is ever euthanized due to lack of space, treatable illness, physical defect, age, behavioural or socialization issues. Of course, all this takes money.

For only $25 a month (less than a dollar a day) your sponsorship will support your sponsored cat's dietary and medical needs. Your name will be placed in a position of honour in our Reception Area under the photo of your sponsored cat thanking you for your support. Your name will also appear on this page, as well as our Facebook and Instagram page. Please indicate which kitty you would like to sponsor.

Payments may be made through Canada Helps, e-transfers or post-dated cheques which may be mailed or dropped off at DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue, 55 Allison Road, Riverbank, Carleton County, NB E7L 4J1. Please make sure you provide your complete mailing address for income tax purposes as well a s your e-mail address and telephone number. Please contact us at (506) 328-3380 for information on how to send your donation by e-transfer.

On behalf of all our sponsored kitties we'd like to thank everyone who supports our strays. It is only through your kindness and generosity that we are able to help these special kitties. Sincerely - "Thank you."

"Write-On" returned to DunRoamin' on August 25, 2015 from his home in Florenceville where he had lived since September 14, 2013. Along with his friend Wimbledon (see below), he had been adopted by a wonderful family and loved by their two children. Unfortunately, allergies developed and both cats were unable to stay in the home. Write-On had originally been struck by a car while living in the Bristol area and had sustained a broken lower jaw and injured front leg, but had been all repaired by his friends at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic and he is 100% fine!Write-On is a beautiful little boy who loves his friend Wimbledon. It is hoped they can go back to a loving home together. Write-On was born about May 28, 2011. He is currently fostered in Upper Brighton with Wimbledon and he thanks Kate for her kindness.

Spartacus came to us from the Plaster Rock area on May 2, 2017 where a couple had several cats, but were splitting up and could no longer house them all.  Heartbroken, they had to give some up, so Spartacus came to us to find a new home.  Spartacus is a beautiful little boy - a true gentleman.  He loves to be patted and particularly loves his ears, cheeks and chin scratched.  He is not so much a "pickin' up cat," but he is very affectionate and likes to spend time with humans.

Spartacus was born about August 2, 2014.  He tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), but he is a very healthy, happy, affectionate boy.  FIV cats can live long and happy lives, especially if they are cared for, vaccinated, have a good diet and are monitored closely for such things as upper respiratory infection (colds) or dental disease.  Please read about FIV and consider taking one of these beautiful cats home - they're perfect!

Spartacus spent some time with a senior citizen as part of our Cats For Seniors program, then came back to us.  He is currently fostered in Woodstock with another cat who is also spoiled rotten!  Thanks to his sponsors for providing food and any required medical care.  He is a very lucky little boy.

Abel came back to us on April 20, 2018 from Woodstock where he had been adopted in December 2015.  He had originally come to us from Lakeville in 2012 where he was one of several cats who were hanging around a home but had no one to care for him.  Abel is a sweet little boy who was originally very timid but he quickly became very confident, secure and happy on his own.

Abel is eating a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food to make sure that he is healthy as he has a tendency to block if he eats other foods. We have had dozens of cats who have been placed on this diet and it works extremely well - no problems at all, as long as they eat this diet.  Abel was in a foster home but experienced some medical issues, so he came back to us for care.   He was born about April 1, 2012.

Abel was recently diagnosed with asthma, so requires a puffer which he accepts very well - it isn't an issue at all, especially if there is a treat involved afterward!  He requires 10 breaths each evening with his puffer, and he is doing fine!  He has also been diagnosed with early kidney disease.  Abel is a happy, sweet, loving little boy who gets along with the other cats with whom he currently lives.  He loves to be patted, picked up and cuddled.  As part of our Sponsor A Kitty program, he is grateful to those who contribute monthly to help provide all required medication and care.

Splinter came to us on May 8, 2018 from Glassville where he'd been part of a colony of feral cats that was trying survive.  Splinter was born about August 7, 2010, so was about eight years old.  In his life, he had sustained several wounds and injuries.  Today he displayed a very badly-infected ear and he needed help.  Splinter's ear was cleaned and he was placed on antibiotics to ensure the infection would not spread further.  He wasn't sure what to think of us at first, but this old guy is happy to be warm, safe and have food delivered upon demand.

Splinter is doing well, and although he was initially a little timid and quiet, he quickly realized that we'll take good care of him.  He is currently fostered with three other cats in Florenceville and he gets along with them fine.  He's still initially a little timid of humans, though, but loves his toys and to sleep on his human's bed!   Once he gets to know you, though, he's all over you looking for pats and hugs!  He hopes to have a safe, warm and loving permanent home soon.  He's tired of those long, cold, hungry winters and has paid his dues many times over.  He likes to be patted and have his belly rubbed, but mostly he loves having his back scratched at the base of his tail - elevator butt!!

Splinter tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).  He's currently being spoiled in his foster home, and being a senior citizen, is very happy with that!  He still loves to chase toys (and his foster brothers!), and he certainly loves his Temptations!

Frazzle came to us from Waterville on the morning of May 13, 2019 where she had been found on a porch at 8 am.  Frazzle could barely move.  She was brought for help and was immediately taken to the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic for examination and assistance.  Frazzle was not in good shape.  She was born about May 13, 2017, but weighed only three pounds.  Frazzle was dehydrated, very pale, had halitosis, was emaciated, lethargic, had burdocks matted in her fur and had a purulent discharge coming from her eyes.  A thermometer revealed that her body temperature was also several degrees below normal.  She was very cold.

Frazzle was warmed up, given intravenous fluids, medications and several tests were conducted to determine if her kidneys and other organs were working properly.  Frazzle was so exhausted and weak that, in the next few hours and days, she could barely hold her head up when trying to eat warm food.  On May 14, 2019, Frazzle received a blood transfusion from a generous feline donor which soon made a world of difference for her.  Thanks, Biggie!  You saved her life!  Frazzle used the litter box for the first time on May 15 and appeared to have the tiniest bit of energy - that's a WONDERFUL sign!  She (and we) would like to thank the Florencevile Veterinary Clinic for their kind and hard work to ensure this little one has a chance at the life she deserves.

On May 31, 2019, we learned that Frazzle was improving nicely and is comfortable, happy, purring and content with her huge staff of human servants who wait on her hand and foot, day and night.  In June, she required a feeding tube to be inserted as she declined her meals, but she was soon eating on her own again and feeling better.

On August 15, 2019, Frazzle was fortunate to go to a foster home where she is treated like a queen and is doing amazingly well!  We'd like to thank her vet tech foster mom - you're amazing!!  Frazzle is a very lucky girl!   Her mom reports that she is a quiet girl but has the funniest raspy meow when she talks!  She loves to go outside in her secure catio and chase bugs.  Her favourite toys are springs and want toys, which she leaps into the air to catch!

Frazzle is a super affectionate girl and loves to lay on  her mom's lap.  She does not enjoy her spa days of shaving her bum as required, nor does she enjoy medication as required either, but she says it is well worth it to have this loving home.  She is a very lucky little girl, and she thanks those who sponsor her to ensure she has the medical care she requires.  She knows how fortunate she is, and is very grateful to all who have made this new life possible.

Rocky is a nice boy who loves to have his ears scratched, although when he's had enough he'll let you know by whacking you with his paw - he's in charge, you know!  He currently lives with his best friend, Gilmore and they are hoping for a loving home together where they can live out the rest of their lives in bliss!  Rocky has come into his own very quickly.  He is friendly, affectionate and loves to have lots of pets and scratches. If he tires of attention, he'll let us know with a quick swat, but then is back very quickly for more loving! He is quite  the boy!

As you can read below, FIV+ cats may live long and happy lives and may interact with other cats as long as they do not fight, and he's a lover, not a fighter!  Please come meet this gorgeous tuxedo cat!  He is SO hoping for a home where he can sleep on a bed, watch TV and help his person type on a computer!  He loves to hang out with people!

On January 22, 2021, Rocky was invited to be fostered by a very nice couple in Riceville while he awaits a permanent home.  Thanks to them for giving this beautiful little boy a home while he awaits a permanent abode!  Rocky is grateful for his supporters through our Sponsor A Kitty program.  Thank you!!

Gaia came to DunRoamin' from a colony of cats in Sommerville on May 18, 2021.  Born about January 1, 2020, she was not in good shape.  A bad case of upper respiratory infection required her left eye to be removed and she required dental work once she was strong enough.  On top of these medical issues, she was found to be diabetic.  She has had a hard go, but all that ends today.

Gaia tested negative for FIV and FeLV and was spayed.  Gaia requires a very tiny amount of insulin twice daily and a diabetic diet which have both allowed her system to regulate very well.  We hope that eventually she will need only the diabetic food and can dispense with the injections!   She is a beautiful little girl who is grateful to be warm and safe. Now that she's starting to feel better, she is showing her real personality - and it's a winner!

Gaia hopes for a loving home very soon.  Her insulin injections are really no big deal, are inexpensive and she is SUCH a sweet little girl!  She was soon putting on weight and she will be very grateful to have a family of her very own.  Right now, she is fostered by a caring couple who ensures she has the best of the best.

Diabetic cats may require a diabetic diet and/or an insulin injection once or twice daily, but once they are regulated, they do very well!  Gaia eats Fancy Feast canned food (only fish or chicken is appropriate for diabetics) and Purina DM dry food and she loves them both.  She has put on weight and is now a healthy, happy, loving and affectionate little girl.  She would love to have a family and live in a loving home - she's been waiting since Day 1, and she's definitely ready for one!!  Gaia is grateful for her foster family and for her Sponsor A Kitty friends who help support her diabetic requirements.  Thank you!

Gilmore is a sweet little boy who was born about April 15, 2016.  He loves to have his ears scratched and loves attention.  He must eat a prescription of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food only, as he may have a tendency to block if he eats any other food.  This is a high-quality food that we have used for years and have had not even one single recurrence as long as they stay on this diet!

Gilmore is looking forward to meeting a family who will love him very soon! Perhaps there is a family that is already feeding their cat Urinary S/O food - he'd love to join!!  On August 10, 2021, Gilmore went to be fostered with Rocky, another DunRoamin cat.  Thank you to this family for accepting him into your home while he awaits a permanent home. Dazzler was born about May 25, 2011.  She is a very sweet little old lady who loves everyone.  She tested positive for FeLV, but it is still not an issue at her ripe old age!

Dazzler lived with several other FeLV+ cats until she was chosen by the nicest couple ever to come live with them in the Perth area.  She has been diagnosed with arthritis and is now on medication to help.  She visits her vet friend for an injection monthly and it has made a huge change in her comfort level.

Dazz has recently been diagnosed as diabetic, so now will undergo medical care for this as well.  She is doing very well - happy, healthy and enjoying being spoiled by her humans.  She is fostered with another DunRoamin' FeLV+ kitten, Jacob, and they are best friends - he adores her!  Dazzler keeps her humans entertained and displays her gratitude daily for all the love she has been given.  She has the PERFECT retirement home!  Dazzler is very grateful to her Sponsor A Kitty friends who help provide for her medical requirements.  Thank you.

Crombie came to DunRoamin' on April 23, 2022 from Crombie Settlement, NB.  He had been found in an abandoned house where he had been seeking shelter for quite some time.  A kind lady had tried to catch him, but when she went back to the house he was gone.  Approximately two weeks later, she was able to find and deliver him to us.

Crombie was born about April 23, 2012.  Assessment by his new vet friend showed that he was very dirty, matted, emaciated, had fleas, ear mites, internal parasites and a luxating patella on his right leg.  He had obviously been having a hard time trying to survive, but the worst and probably most painful thing was his mouth.  All his teeth were rotten and painful and therefore required to be removed.  He also had a very bad abscess on his tongue which had resulted in a hole which extended all the way through his tongue.  This was painful and made eating difficult for the little boy.  He was also covered with a black tar-like material.

Crombie was immediately provided antibiotics, pain medication and a nice warm and comfortable bed.  He was also given wet food which he devoured instantly.  Despite his physical condition, he was soon purring and kneading - saying thank you to his new vet friend for her help to make him more comfortable.  All his medical issues were addressed and he has shown his gratitude each and every day since - he is a loving, affectionate little sweetheart!!  Crombie was tested for FIV and FeLV.  He tested positive for FIV which is absolutely no big deal - please read about it by following the link below.

Crombie was soon a healthy and happy little boy who has bonded with Beau, who is also FIV+.  They are the very best of friends and we hope that they may be adopted together - they are always found together, and when they sleep, they wrap themselves around each other!  Both are neutered, fully vaccinated and treated for all parasites.  They are exceptionally affectionate with each other and will bond quickly with their new human.  They look forward to living in a home, watching TV, chasing a computer mouse and the many other things such fortunate adopted cats get to do!  They thank their sponsors for providing their medical needs - they are forever grateful!

Beau came to DunRoamin' on June 19, 2022 from the Somerville, NB area where he had been hanging around for a few seasons, but no one could take him in.  Recently he had been observed to have what appeared to be injuries to his face.

Beau was accepted by DunRoamin' and immediately examined by his new vet friend who observed an infected injury to his right cheek and several smaller wounds on his feet, one of which was an exposed ligament.  These wounds were most probably the result of an attack by another animal while he was trying to survive on his own.  Beau is estimated to have been born about June 19, 2018, so was about four years old when he arrived at DunRoamin'.

Beau underwent sedation several times to have his wound drained, treated and sutured.  He was prescribed pain medications and antibiotics to combat his injuries.  Beau was also diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which you can read about at the link below.

Beau and his best friend Crombie (also FIV+) are the most affectionate and loving cats you may ever meet!  They are grateful to spend their summers as foster cats of an extremely wonderful couple with whom they have fallen head over heals in love!  They are often found sleeping on their humans or cuddled together on top of each other or wound around each other!  They hope for a new home together very soon, and would be very pleased if someone were to choose them to join their family.  They are grateful to their sponsors who help provide vaccines and medical support as required.

Lawrence also had a wound on his hind leg which required medical care.  His wound has healed completely and he is responding well to his insulin which is provided once each morning.  He is a vocal and sweet little boy whose only wish is that he might live in a home, sleep on a bed with a human, and watch a bit of TV every once in a while!

Lawrence eats Purina DM dry food along with his Fancy Feast chicken or Fancy Feast fish canned food, the only non-prescription canned food allowed for diabetic cats.  Lawrence also had dental issues upon his arrival, so he required dental surgery to remove all his teeth.  He still loves his dry and canned food and definitely has no issues with his daily insulin injection.  Lawrence is very calm, quiet and loving - he'd make the PERFECT addition to any home that would love to have some affectionate feline company!

Harper and Tupper were adopted together in October 2014, but returned to DunRoamin’ years later in early June 2025 when their senior owner could no longer care for them.  They were scared upon their arrival but have since settled in and have shown us what sweet cats they still are.  They both love being patted and brushed, and Tupper loves belly rubs.

Both cats were extremely overweight, but we followed a diet plan set forth by their vet to help them safely shed some pounds.  Harper weighed 16.5 lbs upon arrival – her ideal weight is about eight pounds.  As of January 5, 2025, she weighs 13.6 lb - great job!!  Harper has some arthritis in her left knee and required three teeth to be removed, but is now perfectly fine.  We are looking forward to helping them lead healthier lives.

Harper and Tupper are looking forward to one day having a new home, together – they have never been apart since birth!  A nice, quiet home to spend their senior years is their wish!  These two are beautiful cats with wonderful, laid-back, loving personalities.  If you are looking for company and lots of love, please come meet them!

Boone is an extremely affectionate cat.  He loves to be with people and will follow you around from room to room to ensure he always has people to whom he can express his love of life!  While on his prescription diet, he has experienced absolutely no problems whatsoever!  Thanks, Royal Canin, for your S/O food!

Jacob was very grateful to gain the care of one of our most loving and medically-experienced supporters who very quickly volunteered to take him home to foster for whatever time he might have remaining.  With his foster family, he experienced love, companionship, walks in the warm green grass wearing his halter, and was completely spoiled with toys, children, and his favourite tuna tube treats.

Jacob received the best quality of love and care he could possibly receive - something too many of these little ones do not have the good fortune to experience, and on February 19, 2025, he celebrated his first birthday!

On February 28, 2025, Jacob was invited to join Dazzler, also FeLV+, in her foster home so they could keep each other company.  We would like to thank Jacob's foster families for loving and caring for this little boy so that he gets to know the kind of life and family he deserves.  He is so grateful for all he receives from them.  Jacob is currently doing very well and loving his life, as is Dazzler.  Thank you to their foster families and to their sponsors who make their medical care possible.  We are all very grateful to be able to help these little ones - they give back SO much!

We met Ronald on July 28, 2024.  He had been surrendered to DunRoamin as he had been recently diagnosed with diabetes and his owners were unable to take on the responsibility of the care he required.  Ronald was placed on a diabetic diet and started on twice-daily insulin injections.  He would also require regular blood glucose tests to ensure his blood sugar levels were within a healthy, stable range.

We have a lot of experience caring for diabetic cats, but stabilizing Ronald’s blood sugar proved to be particularly challenging.  Despite increasing the amount of insulin he received, Ronald’s blood sugar was still high.  In January 2025, his vet decided to change the type of insulin he received in hopes that that would help.  We gave his body time to adjust to the new insulin, but it had little effect on his blood sugar.  In addition to this, Ronald was hungry all of the time and he was losing weight, despite increasing the amount of food he was given.

In June 2025, tests confirmed that Ronald had a tumour, probably benign, on his pituitary gland (a gland in the brain that controls hormones).  This tumour caused his pituitary to release more growth factor hormone, affecting his body in several ways:  it causes insulin resistance, explaining why higher doses of insulin had little effect on his blood sugar; it caused him to feel hungry all of the time, despite eating more food; and it causes organ and tissue enlargement (his head, body size, paw size were larger than normal) and, over time, it can increase the size of organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys) – this is a condition called acromegaly.

Ronald’s condition was incurable.  We promised to give him the best we could for as long as we could.  We gave him several meals throughout the day to help with his hunger, and we managed his blood sugar the best we could with insulin.  But we knew that, eventually, our efforts to keep him healthy would begin to fail.  And that happened on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

We noticed that Ronald had very little appetite and he was quiet, lethargic and felt warm to the touch.  He was given an appetite stimulant and some subcutaneous fluids and, by that afternoon, he seemed to perk up a bit.  But this, unfortunately, wouldn’t last long.  He saw his favourite vet on February 9th who diagnosed him with pancreatitis, low potassium and a urinary tract infection.  He was started on more fluids, antibiotics and pain meds and we waited to see how he would do overnight.  But the next day brought even more bad news:  Ronald was unable to retain any of the fluid he was given, his liver was enlarged (due to the acromegaly), and his body was weak and tired.  Many tears were shed as we helped our dear friend cross the Rainbow Bridge on February 10, 2026.

From the moment he entered our building, Ronald had a commanding presence.  He was a strong, sturdy 16 lb boy who LOVED to talk, and his soft, gentle eyes had a way of drawing you in.  He was a true gentleman who made friends with everyone he met, human and feline alike.  And it was this comforting presence that helped a terrified cat, Drew, learn to trust.

Drew arrived at DunRoamin’ eleven days after Ronald.  He was also diabetic but he did not trust his new human caregivers who needed to give him insulin injections and check his blood sugar regularly.  He would often lash out, scared of the new situation in which he found himself.   When he was fully vaccinated, he moved into our diabetic room where Ronald was waiting to meet him.  And almost instantly, Drew’s personality changed.  He gravitated toward Ronald, finding comfort in him, and they could often be found side-by-side with Drew nuzzling his head against Ronald.  Drew had just needed a friend.  This was the kind of presence Ronald had:  gentle, reassuring and deeply comforting.

We feel the absence of Ronald’s warm and gentle spirit, and things seem quieter without his comforting presence.  We deeply miss our sweet, cuddly, talkative boy.  And Drew is mourning the loss of his best friend.  We are honoured to have been Ronald’s family for the past year and a half and we are grateful that we were able to provide him with everything he needed to stay healthy for as long as he did.

We love you, Ronald.

Rosco came to DunRoamin' on July 16, 2024 from Perth-Andover where he was no longer able to be cared for by his owner.  Upon coming to us, he was panting heavily and had parasites.  Born about December 31, 2010, he was also not vaccinated and had not been to a vet in many years.  All these things were rectified to ensure his health and make him more comfortable.

Rosco is an older guy who dreamed only of health and contentment in his later years, but that was not meant to be.  He was diagnosed by his new vet friend as having a cancerous growth beside his thyroid which is not curable.  Rosco still feels good, so we are giving him the best life possible.  Rosco will stay with his DunRoamin' family where he will be spoiled and loved  and receive the best of medical care for the rest of his life.  We are honoured to take care of this little boy - he is a sweetheart who deserves the very best.  He currently lives with Ollie, Brix and Laura who share our main area with him.  He is a sweetheart who is very grateful to his sponsors who ensure that he may receive all the medical care he requires while his DunRoamin' staff takes good care of him.  He deserves it!

Humphrey came to DunRoamin' from the Somerville area on June 27, 2024.  A stray who had been hanging around for awhile, a lady had noticed that he now needed help so had been trying to catch him for several weeks.  He eventually lost the physical ability to get away from her and was fortunate enough to be caught and brought for medical assistance.  And he really needed medical assistance.

Humphrey is thought to be about six years old, having been born about June 27, 2019.  Upon examination by his new vet friend, he was found to be emaciated, dehydrated, matted, had ear mites, fleas, worms, arthritis, upper respiratory infection and his teeth were in a terrible state with stomatitis, which would have been very painful for him.  He tested positive for FIV which is not such a big deal at all - he just needs a little more monitoring!

Humphrey was provided with pain medication, antibiotics, steroids, IV fluids and lots of nutritious food.  He was soon eating cautiously and was grateful for his new-found wealth of medical care, food, water and caring friends to help him.  He initially spent all his time eating or sleeping in an effort to regain some of his health and strength.  He was quiet, respectful and grateful for all he received.

Humphrey required all his teeth to be removed, which changed his life entirely.  He was soon pain-free and therefore much more outgoing and friendly, and his gratitude still shines through at every moment he sees a human.  He loves to yell at us for his breakfast and has his very own personal bed which he also loves.  He loves to be picked up, and will hug his humans in gratitude for all he has received in his new life.

Humphrey was also diagnosed with significant lack of vision - he seemed to see shadows and can locate people and food, but is sometimes hesitant with his footing in a new environment, so his current room is never rearranged.  He was also diagnosed with diabetes in December, 2024, so he requires insulin each morning.

Humphrey would just like a quiet retirement home where he can enjoy a human's love, a lap to sleep on, some good food and a nice warm bed - that's all he asks.  After all, he thinks he is in heaven now!  Just imagine what he would think if he got his own very own home and family!  Humphrey would like to thank his sponsors from our Sponsor A Kitty program who ensure that he is able to receive the food, care, medication and vet care he may require.  We couldn't do it without you!

Brix came to DunRoamin' on October 1, 2024, from Good Corner where he was an owned cat.   Apparently previously healthy, approximately one week earlier he had begun to be unable to walk and he stopped eating.  His owner was unable to undertake the costs of medical care for him, so he came to us as a last resort for life.

Brix was born about October 3, 2021.  Examination by his vet revealed that he was displaying neurological symptoms, was blind, he had lockjaw, was "knuckling" with his paws and was therefore unable to walk.

Due to the medical care he received, near the end of his first week of care, he was eating a bit, his lockjaw had lessened and he could take a few steps on his own.  Rabies was ruled out (he had not been vaccinated), but his vet friend had a challenge in front of her - which she will easily meet - he feels better already!  He may have a long road ahead of him, but he will get the best of care.  He is a sweet little boy who already shows gratitude for the warm bed, plentiful nutritious food, significant decrease in pain and discomfort, and the fact that he is now able to see is AMAZING!   As of July, 2025, he was still improving.  He can see, run, jump, play and can he ever eat!!  He definitely loves his food!  He has begun his vaccine protocol, as well.

As of July, 2025, Brix is a different cat than he was only a few months ago.  He was diagnosed with meningitis, but his vet has taken such good care of him that he is MUCH better!  He is in charge of I-Lean's Room - the central room of DunRoamin', and he loves it.  He happily rules his kingdom - jumping, running, playing and interacting with his feline and human friends.  He is a whole different cat, and he is very grateful!

Donations are very much appreciated so that he may continue to receive the medical care he may require in order to become 100% well and join a family as an indoor cat where he will be safe and loved forever.  He is a very unique little boy who shows his gratitude on a daily basis.

Seymour came to DunRoamin' from the Fredericton area on March 10, 2025.  His owner was moving, could not take him with her, and could not find anyone who wanted a diabetic cat.  At this point, his life became at risk, and his only option for life was to come to DunRoamin'.

A visit to his new vet at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic determined that he had been born about March 27, 2018,   He had a bladder infection and is definitely diabetic.  As he has had no medication, his diabetes was uncontrolled, and since he didn't feel good, he was very unhappy.  He was cranky and not very nice to his new friends, but we understood completely.

Seymour was prescribed a diabetic diet and medication and he was soon feeling much better.  He is much happier, less stressed and is happy to be cared for by his new servants who can now pat him, play with him and even pick him up!  What a difference a little medical assistance can make in a little cat's life!

Seymour will soon be 100%, once his diabetes is completely under control.  He was prescribed an oral diabetes medication which he happily eats on his food and therefore does not require insulin injections.  He displays his gratitude each day for his improving health, and he is becoming a very happy boy who loves his caregivers and is happy to show that love and gratitude!  He is particularly grateful to his sponsors who help provide his diabetic food and medication - it has changed his whole world!  Seymour looks forward to a new home - preferably similar to his last one.  He likes a quiet home, maybe as the only feline friend of senior citizen, to whom he can give all his love.

Edwin arrived at DunRoamin' on April 24, 2025 from a spay/neuter program from a shelter.  Unfortunately, when examined prior to his neuter, numerous wounds which required medical attention were noted which could not be provided by the shelter, so he came to us for help.  He had also experienced diarrhea, perhaps from colitis or irritable bowel disease.

Edwin was prescribed a diet of Royal Canin Selected Protein food, a fibre supplement and a course of steroids and has been doing very well.  Edwin is neutered, fully vaccinated, treated for all parasites and he tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

On first acquaintance, Edwin can be a little shy, but he very quickly turns into a cute little furball who loves being patted and receiving belly rubs.  He is quite active and we often see him running around his room, chasing after any toy he can find - he is very happy to feel so much better and be warm, safe and loved!  Edwin was born about January 31, 2022.  It's about time he had a safe, loving home.  Please get in touch if you agree!!  He is very grateful to his sponsors who ensure he gets the medication and prescription food he requires.  Thank you so much!

Ollie came to DunRoamin’ on June 4, 2025, from the Rowena area.  He had been experiencing ongoing medical issues for quite some time and was stressed by the presence of other pets in the home, so he was came to us for help as a last resort.  Ollie was born about April 12, 2020, and was already neutered upon his arrival.

Ollie was assessed by his new vet friend who diagnosed him with hydrocephalus, a condition in which spinal fluid accumulates in the brain. Because of this, he tends to lean to one side when sitting and standing, and he also experiences nystagmus, a rapid and involuntary movement of his eyes from side to side.  His vet also diagnosed him with a severe heart murmur.

Because of his medical condition, Ollie may experience seizures, so he will remain with us where we can closely monitor and provide medical care to ensure his health.  To date, he is doing well and has made some friends such as Rosco and Brix who keep him company and are very respectful of his differences.  Ollie is loving and appears to be happy in his new environment.

Thanks to his friends, sponsors and all who have donated to our Ollie's Oasis campaign to ensure that he can receive the best of medical care.  This sweet little boy will continue to get all we can give him - he has more than earned our love and respect, and we are grateful to be able to provide him with medical care, a home for as long as he wants it, and all the love we can possibly provide.

"Tupper," his mom Pearson, sister Harper, and siblings Campbell, Turner and Diefenbaker originally came to us from Holmesville on June 30, 2014.  Sadly, Pearson and Campbell were very ill and passed away shortly after their arrival.  The remaining kittens required constant care and needed to be fed and stimulated to go to the bathroom every few hours around the clock.  They were born about June 8, 2014.

Tupper and Harper eventually became well and were adopted together in October, 2014 but returned to DunRoamin’ in early June 2025 when their senior owner could no longer care for them.  They were scared upon their arrival, but quickly settled in and have shown us what sweet cats they are.  Both cats were extremely overweight – we are following a diet plan set forth by their vet to help them safely shed some pounds.  Tupper weighed about 17.5 lbs upon his arrival - his ideal weight should be approximately 13 lbs.  As of January 5, 2025, he weighed 14.3 lb  - good job!!  He is a much healthier and happy little boy!

Apart from their weight, both cats were in good health.  Tupper has a luxating patella (his kneecap can pop in and out of place) in his right leg, but we have had many cats with luxating patellas and it rarely is an issue - definitely not with Tupper.  Tupper has experienced urinary crystals in the past, so he must eat only Royal Canin Urinary S/O food to help prevent crystals from forming again.

These siblings are the sweetest little ones you could ever meet!  Tupper and Harper are looking forward to one day having a new home together – they have never been apart since birth!  A nice, quiet retirement home in which to spend their senior years is their wish!  They are both beautiful cats who will provide plenty of loving and attentive company!

Trooper came to DunRoamin' on November 5, 2025 from Jacksonville where he had been observed in the neighbourhood for a while.  He now had injuries on his back and tail area, and required medical assistance that no one could provide, so he came to us.  Trooper was born about November 5, 2023.

Trooper appeared to have suffered an animal attack which resulted in the requirement for antibiotics and pain medication, as well as several sutures to close his wounds, which were very painful.  Trooper was also very scared - who wouldn't be, after such an experience as being attacked by another animal?  Trooper was provided with all required medical assistance and was neutered.  His vaccine protocol was also begun and he was tested for FIV and FeLV.  His FIV test proved positive, which is no big deal these days!  Please read up on FIV and FeLV on this website.

Trooper will continue to receive the best of care, thanks to his new vet friend at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic and his new servants at DunRoamin'.  He is still a bit nervous of his new situation and environment, but as he begins to heal, consume his nutritious diet and is treated with the best of love and kindness, he will be fine and 100% in no time.  We look forward to finding him a home and family - he's due for a change and he deserves the best.

Etta came to DunRoamin' from the Centreville area where she was a stray who had taken advantage of the kindness of a family who offered shelter in their barn for wayward little cats.  This family noticed that something was definitely not right with Etta.

Etta was immediately accepted by DunRoamin' and examined by her new best vet friend at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  She was diagnosed with subcutaneous emphysema, a condition in which air leaks from the respiratory tract and becomes trapped under the skin.  This appeared to have been caused by a large polyp above her soft pallet which obstructed her airway.  This was most probably congenital, so had been there since birth.  She is a very lucky little girl to have been found, and to receive the medical assistance so generously provided by her new vet friends and by the many people who have financially supported her recovery.  Etta was born about November 27, 2024, so was only about a year old.

As of November 28, just one day after her surgery, she was resting, eating wet food, purring and is grateful for her new life.  She was soon a happy,, healthy, purring little orange ball of gratitude, kindness and love.  As of January 10, 2026, she is spending time with her friends at The Purrfect Cup, Two Nations Crossing, Fredericton.  Please check out this fantastic place - lots of great coffee, snacks and cats!!

Bertie came to DunRoamin' on December 2, 2014 from the Plaster Rock area.  She had been surrendered to a shelter as she was peeing in the bathtub.  When she was taken to be spayed, it was learned she had been pregnant and had been bitten in her belly.  Her two kittens had already passed away, and she needed help which the shelter was unable to provide.  She had no other option for life, so she was immediately accepted by DunRoamin'.  Bertie was born about December 1, 2012.

With the love and medical care provided by her new family, Bertie soon blossomed into a healthy, happy little girl.  She participated as a member of our Cats For Seniors program for many years, and returned to us in 2025.  She was diagnosed as diabetic, but only requires diabetic food and some liquid medication which she eats on her food, and she does so with gusto!

Bertie is a beautiful little girl who loves company, loves to snuggle and loves to be in the same room with any human who loves her.  She is a senior citizen who is still awaiting a family of her very own.  She would love to be an only cat for the human who would give her ALL their attention, but she wouldn't mind one other cat, either!  Bertie is a sweetheart, and she looks forward to the family who will finally locate her - the perfect cat!
