Doreen Doreen and her three sisters came to DunRoamin' on the evening of November 23, 2011 from the Glassville area. She was only about five weeks old. A lady had been on Facebook where she saw that someone had put a note saying that if eight puppies weren't gone by tonight they would be left outside. The temperature today was about -5*C and we had six inches of snow. And that was before the sun went down! It became much colder that night. The lady went to the home where these four and three others were found outdoors. The eighth was not accounted for. They appeared to be healthy, but were very hungry and, of course, cold. The lady took all seven, and is keeping three of them to find homes for herself. The other four are safely in a foster home where they're safe, warm and fed. Their mom was a Lab mixed-breed, and their dad is not known. On December 10, 2011, Doreen attended the Co-Op Adoption Fair, where she met her new family. She liked to watch herself in a mirror. She's quiet and warms up to people very well and has quickly learned about house training. She has gotten car sick a couple of times, but only because it's new to her.On November 21, 2011, Willow was introduced to a lady from Nortondale who immediately fell in love with her. He's a very nice little boy who appears to be part Border Collie and part Lab.On November 5, 2011, Ross was adopted by a family in Bristol which has two young girls. Ross started a Hallowe'en tradition of going trick or treating with his young friends, and he dressed up as a black and white dog. Her whole litter was due to be euthanized because there was no room in the shelter system. She was originally adopted out on May 16, 2010. Elizabeth simply needed a little training and to understand her role in the family. She has received this training and is a beautiful little girl. Seeley, and Schroeder are males, and Stella, Scandal, Sydney and Sabre are females. She's about three years old, and is a Golden Retriever. She was very well trained and knew such commands as sit, down, stay, shake, etc. Other than being overweight, Rule was in good physical shape. She has a very nice personality, and received some additional training while she was fostered by Dr Drost. Keeper Keeper came to DunRoamin' on June 24, 2011 when she was found wandering on the road in Fielding. A concerned animal lover picked her up before she could be struck by a vehicle. Keeper is a senior dog, perhaps at least eight years old. It appears her coat has been sheered this year, so she is probably a member of a loving family. We hope to find her family for her, or if that fails, we hope to find her a new home. Keeper likes cats, is very quiet, loving and gentle. She loves to be patted, and especially loves a good belly rub. On June 27, 2011, Keeper's owners arrived to claim her. They were happy to know she'd been kept safe, and are pleased to have her safely back home again.
Raquel
Raquel originally came to DunRoamin' on January 28, 2011 and was adopted out to a family in Woodstock on January 29. However, she came back to us on April 4, 2011 due to the fact that they did not like some of her habits. Raquel was fostered by Dr Drost and Larry and received the training any puppy requires and did exceptionally well. She just needed to know what was expected of her! Raquel was born about December 1, 2010, and is a beautiful and smart little puppy. We believe her to be a Lab/Border Collie mix. She learned quickly and eagerly as Border Collies do, and gets along very well with other dogs. On June 13, 2011, she met a young man from Bristol, NB, and they decided they'd like to co-habitate! Along with her new human, she will have the company of one other dog and five cats. Congratulations!
Thor On March 21, 2011, "Thor," a five-month old puppy was taken in by DunRoamin'. He had suffered a broken right front leg when he jumped off a couch, and his owners were unable to take on the requirements of providing for his surgery and his recuperation. Euthanasia became an option. Thor weighs less than five pounds, and is a Yorkshire Terrier/Chihuahua mixed-breed puppy who is smaller than most cats! He may have come from a puppy mill. He was quite timid, and both his ears were infected. Thor was referred to a vet in Keswick who inserted a plate in his leg on March 23. This is an expensive surgery, and Thor required at least two months of recuperation. Thor's surgery went well, and he was fostered by a Vet Tech to ensure he had the medical attention he required. He eventually went to a foster home, and . . . . . . on June 7, 2011, he officially became a full-fledged family member. He will live in Hartland with his new family which includes a young girl who loves to take him for walks!
Poppit Poppit came to DunRoamin' from the Fredericton area on May 25, 2011. Only about a year old, she is a spayed Shitzu. Two days before she had been struck by a car and sustained three pelvic fractures. As her owners could not manage the financial requirements of her surgeries, she was surrendered so that she would have a chance at recovery and a home. Poppit will have to spend about two months in a kennel to ensure her fractures are healed properly, but then she'll be 100% good to go! She is a sweetheart, and is looking forward to being able to run and play again. On June 4, 2011, she was adopted by a lady from Bathurst. Poppit will recuperate there and become a valued member of her new family. Congratulations!
Solo Solo came to us on May 13, 2011 from the Perth-Andover area where he had been a stray. He's a Shitzu-cross, and is about five years old. Solo had fleas and a ruptured right eye which required surgery to remove. He was able to recover quite nicely. Solo is extremely gentle and sweet and is grateful to have someone to take care of him and love him. He stayed in a foster home until . . . June 2, 2011, when he was adopted by a lady in Stickney. Congratulations, Solo! Have a great life! Send family pictures!
Schroeder Meet "Schroeder." On March 8, 2011, six puppies came to DunRoamin' from the Woodstock area. A dog had had nine puppies, and homes were badly needed. Brooklyn Brooklyn came to DunRoamin' on February 26, 2011 from the New Denmark area where she had been abandoned at a home. She's about one year old and is black and tan. She is a 45-pound mixed breed - maybe some Rottie. The ends of both Brooklyn's ears were swollen and scabbed, as was the tip of her tail. All were bloody, obviously frost-bitten. She had been kept outside, and our winters are much too cold for any dog to live outdoors. Brooklyn was in fair body condition except for flaky skin and long nails which required treatment. She is a beautiful little girl who is friendly, loving and enjoys other dogs, kids and riding in cars. On April 1, 2011, Brooklyn was adopted by a family in Perth-Andover. She is a sister for one other dog in a very happy home. Now renamed Bronte, she's finally realized her dream of a loving family!

Lola Lola was found on January 16, 2011 running loose in the Johnville area, the same location in which Oakley was found. She is about eight or nine months old, and may very well be related to Oakley, as she looks a lot like her and is the approximate age her puppies would be. If you recall, when Oakley was found, she had milk, but numerous searches for her puppies failed to locate them. Lola was in decent shape, but was in heat. She was spayed as soon as possible. She is a Shepherd mix, and weighs about 40 pounds. Lola was fostered by her rescuers. Thanks very much, Keisha and Jared. Oakley will be so grateful to you once again. On March 17, 2011, we learned that Lola and her rescuers/foster parents had bonded so closely that it was decided she should become a permanent member of their family. Congratulations, Lola! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!
Sabre This is "Sabre." On March 8, 2011, six puppies came to DunRoamin' from the Woodstock area. A dog had had nine puppies, and homes were badly needed. Their abdomens were distended with worms, they were very thirsty and cold, but they all have beautiful personalities. Seeley and Schroeder are males, and Sabre, Scandal, Stella and Sydney are females. On March 17, 2011, some people came all the way from Nackawic to meet little Sabre, and she was everything they thought she'd be. She now lives with them and their five-year old daughter in Nackawic. Congratulations!
Link
Link originally came to us on October 23, 2010 from the Beardsley Road area of Woodstock, NB, where he was found running loose with a heavy 12-foot chain around his neck. It had obviously been placed on him when he was a puppy, because his skin and fur had grown right up through the links, and his neck was bloody and infected. His eyes were infected as well. His injuries were immediately treated and he became healthy enough to be adopted on November 6, 2010 by a wonderful family. However, due to circumstances beyond the control of both the family and Link, he came back to us on January 16, 2011. Link is a Shepherd mix, and was probably born about April, 2009. Link is a beautiful boy who loves the out-of-doors and plays happily in the snow at every opportunity, but he's always happy to come back inside with you. Christmas On March 8, 2011, "Christmas" was returned to DunRoamin' from Waasis. The family that had adopted her were unable to give her the time and exercise she required, and she was very unhappy. She needs to be part of a family where she can interact and be loved and cared for. Christmas originally came to us on December 19, 2010, and was adopted on January 20, 2011. She appears to be a Cocker Spaniel/Border Collie mix, and she's very friendly and outgoing. She's about four and a half years old, and loves people. She was fostered by the same loving family who fostered her when she came to us the first time, so we're sure she's feeling more secure and loved already. On March 13, 2011, we got the word!! Her foster mother had been missing her when she was adopted the first time, and was very happy to have her back. She's now a permanent member of the family we're sure she's been missing, too. Congratulations to everyone. Way to go, Chrissy!
Mabel Mabel came to DunRoamin' on January 31, 2011, Mabel came to DunRoamin'. She is a four-month old stray who was found wandering near Hartland. She was healthy, but was covered with scratches. Congratulations!
Dunham This is "Dunham." On April 15, 2010, Dunham came to DunRoamin' from the Plaster Rock area where he had been a stray. He's about two years old, and was already neutered, so he had belonged to someone who cared about him, but those people could not be found. An elderly couple had taken him in, but unfortunately, the husband passed away shortly afterward, and his wife was having a very difficult time caring for him on her own. She asked DunRoamin' for help. Dunham was accepted, and was found to be in decent health, although he was thin and had worms, which were easily treated. He loves people and is very playful. He's put on weight, and has proven himself to be a smart, kind and intelligent little boy. He was fostered by Dr Drost, Larry and their pack until . . . . . . February 11, 2011 when he officially became a permanent family member. Renamed "Jerry," he's made himself an integral part of their pack, and will live happily ever after in Riverbank. Congratulations, Jerry.

Blair is a brown and white Boxer, and is about four and a half years old. She is full of energy and loves to run. She is currently staying in a wonderful foster home in Oakland where she's enjoying the love and company of a couple and two great teenagers. On February 5, 2011, Blair, now known as Sasha, was officially adopted into her foster home. She lives happily with two adults and two teens, all of whom love her dearly.
Sasha Sasha came to DunRoamin' from the Centreville area on December 16, 2010. She had been abandoned, and had been running loose. She was in danger of being shot. The people who were caring for her could not afford to add six more dogs to their family, so the six came to DunRoamin' to get help. They appear to be Lab/Border Collie mixes. Roary and his siblings Raquel, Rebecca, Ross, Roy and Rochester were about seven to eight weeks old and very healthy. They're exceptionally cute and have been well socialized and love people. On February 2, 2011, Roary met a couple who lives in Centreville. He'll live with them, and will be an uncle to Bob, renamed Hector, another ex-DunRoamin' stray who was adopted in November, 2008. Congratulations, Rebecca!
Ellis Ellis originally came from the Centreville area on January 11, 2011, where he was a stray who was picked up by Animal Control. When no one claimed him and his time was up, he was due to be euthanized. Our help was requested, as no one deserves that fate just because they're looking for a family to love. He'd committed no crime. Ellis is a beautiful two-year old boy who appears to be a Shepherd/Sharpei mix. He loves both cats and dogs. He takes treats very delicately, so has obviously been part of a family, perhaps with children. He loves to stand on his hind legs to look around and see what's happening! He had an ear infection which was treated. On January 31, 2011, Ellis went to live with a lady in Hartland who also has a 6-month old Chocolate Lab named Bella who loves Ellis already. They also have a young child with whom they will grow up. Congratulations, Ellis!

She was very sick with vomiting and bloody diarrhea, and was in danger of being euthanized due to financial restrictions. She also had fleas and worms. Marsha was rescued and brought to DunRoamin' where she was treated with intensive care by Dr Monteith, and under Becky's determined efforts quickly became well. Doreen and her three sisters came to DunRoamin' on the evening of November 23, 2011 from the Glassville area. Meet "Roary." On January 28, 2011, six beautiful puppies came to DunRoamin'. A stray had been dropped off in the Moose Mountain area and had become pregnant. We're so happy for you, Roary. Have a great life!

Ellis originally came from the Centreville area on January 11, 2011, where he was a stray who was picked up by Animal Control.
Marsha

Marsha

Marsha originally came from the Beaconsfield area on November 25, 2010, where she had developed Parvovirus, a deadly and terrible disease which may be contracted by unvaccinated dogs. This terrible disease could have been easily avoided by one simple vaccination. Marsha was fostered by Dr Drost, and is a fawn and black Sharpei and Mastiff cross, and she's only about eight months old. She's a lovely little girl who loves people. On December 23, 2010, she was adopted, but was returned on January 21, 2011 due to allergies in the family. On January 27, 2011, Marsha found her permanent family. She will now live in Bath and be the best friend of a lady and her mother, and will reap the benefits of pure heaven! Congratulations, Marsha!

He and several littermates had fleas, earmites and worms but were otherwise healthy. Sue and four of his siblings were saved, and his siblings had already been placed in homes. We hoped to help Sue find his place with a loving family. On January 19, 2011, it was learned that Sue will live in a home in Moncton with three children who will love him forever.
