Mortimer came to DunRoamin' on November 25, 2010. He had originally come to DunRoamin' on July 8, 2010 from Woodstock where he had been very ill and had been in danger of being put down. He was born about November, 2009. He overcame his illness and became 100% healthy! Mortimer then went to a home in Bristol, but people discovered they were allergic, so he came back to us to find a permanent home. Mortimer is a beautiful little bulldog cross who still loves everything. He's very happy, and gets along well with people, dogs, cats, cars, crates - you name it! On Saturday, December 4, 2010, Mortimer met a family with whom he fell in love, and vice versa. He now lives in Nortondale with his new family which includes two young adults, where he is and will remain an extremely valued family member. He has a new name to go along with his new family. Congratulations, Chance! We're so glad you got a second one!

Meet "Hugh." He was a stray in the Perth-Andover area who was taken to a shelter. There he exhibited behavioural problems, most of which were no doubt attributable to the fact that he had never been neutered, although he is approximately three years old, and had never been trained. Hugh came to DunRoamin' on June 22, 2010. Hugh was neutered and underwent training which has improved his behaviour 100%. He just needed some guidance, which he got from Dr Drost and her pack of dogs! Hugh appears to be a Cocker Spaniel mixed breed, and he's ready and eager for his own permanent home as soon as he can possibly meet those special people worthy of him He's cute, friendly, loving, feisty and completely adorable!! On November 6, 2010, Hugh was introduced to a family from Douglas with whom he fell in love. He now lives happily with his new family which includes children, other dogs, and his friend Link (see below ).

This is "Waldo," an older Daschund who's looking for a home. When he came to DunRoamin' on July 26, 2010, he had bad teeth, very long nails and fleas. He also had one testicle which had not descended, but all these medical requirements have been addressed. He's partially blind and deaf at about ten years of age. He was fostered by a Vet Tech from the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic until . . . . . . October 7, 2010, when it was agreed (duh!) that he could never possibly have a better home or more love than he currently had. We're grateful that he finally has the love and care that he's always deserved. Thanks to his new mom!

Oakley came to us on August 21, 2010 from the Johnville area. A couple had been traveling on a dirt road where no houses were present when they saw her. She was obviously in distress, but was very untrusting. She had a large open wound over her left eye, she was emaciated, dehydrated, and doing all she could to stay alive. The couple called for help when they were unable to approach her, although she quickly gobbled down several large bowls of water and food, as long as the couple moved away from it after they set it down. Two DunRoamin' members well versed in the ways of dogs attended and were successful in coaxing her into their vehicle. Oakley was examined and it was observed that her wound was full of debris and dirt, and that she obviously had puppies, because she was full of milk. A search was conducted for the puppies over many hours, but they were not located. Oakley appears to be a Shepherd mix breed, and is about two years old. Oakley was taken to the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic where her wound was treated. At this time several pellets were found in the wound in her head. A subsequent x-ray located dozens more throughout her body. It appears that she was shot in the head, but was able to run away. Numerous rounds struck her legs and back as she made her escape. Many of these pellets were removed, but some are in locations which make it difficult at this time to attempt their removal. Oakley stayed with Dr Drost, her husband and their pack of dogs where she recuperated and learned to trust again. On September 3, 2010, Oakley was adopted by a lady in Kirkland who wants to try to make up for her terrible ordeal. She'll live happily ever after. Briar is a one-year old Lab/Boxer mixed-breed female stray who was found on July 17, 2010 running loose with two puppies in the Kilburn area. Her puppies found homes, and now Briar was hoping for a home of her own, too. She is now spayed. Briar loves people, other dogs, riding in the car, sleeping in her crate and almost anything else you can name! She gets along well with everyone, and certainly knows how to make friends. She's a beautiful little girl who LOVES to play. If you'd be interested in a new best friend who will join you in all your favourite things, and enjoy them every bit as much as you do, she's your girl On August 31, 2010, Briar met a wonderful family from Fredericton, where she'll now live happily with her two new best friends, a young boy and girl. Congratulations, everyone!

On August 23, 2010, "Rollins," a two-year old Terrier mix was seen thrown from a car window in Hartland. The person who witnessed it took some time to catch the terrified little dog. Rollins was brought to DunRoamin' where he was examined and found to be in decent shape, although scared and nervous, of course. Why should he trust anyone?On August 27, 2010, Rollins was adopted by a couple in Greenfield. There he will be forever loved, treated with respect and have the life that he truly deserves. Thanks to this couple for caring about him.

Streak came to a home in Fielding on July 17, 2010 during a thunderstorm which scared her terribly. The kind people gave her shelter and comfort but were unable to keep her. They placed newspaper, radio and Facebook ads, contacted all neighbours and conducted every possible manner of search for her owners, but were unsuccessful in locating her family. Streak is an 8 - 10 year-old Beagle mix, and is a real sweetheart. She'd like to get back to her real family, but if that can't happen, she'd be forever grateful for a new and loving home. On August 11, 2010, Streak hit the jackpot! She will now live in Charleston with a wonderful lady who has several cats. Streak is grateful to have a loving family again. Congratulations, everyone!

Landon came from the Oakland area on July 8, 2010, where she was rescued by an SPCA officer. She is a Lab mix, and was only about three years old. She weighed about 30 pounds, but she should have weighed ten more to be healthy. Landon had been tied to her doghouse with a heavy chain her entire life. This resulted in extreme neck pain for which she required medication. Her injuries required laser therapy and she may need a veterinary acupuncturist if she hopes to ever be pain-free - such was the extent of injury done to her by the chain, not to mention insufficient food, too much intense heat, mosquitoes, earmite, etc etc, etc. Landon is a beautiful little girl who, despite the way she had been treated by humans, is very happy to have human friends. Landon was very fortunate to be accepted into a foster home with one other dog and six cat where she received the love and care she deserves. On August 7, 2010, Landon met a wonderful couple from Hartland who fell in love with her beauty, determination, perseverance and love of people and life. Landon will join this family and live happily ever after, and hopefully will never ever think of her life before she was all DunRoamin'.

On June 16, 2010, the SPCA investigated an incident where a dog had been abandoned in a garage after the tenant had left. "Dandy," a four-month old Shepherd female, was very depressed, dehydrated and vomiting. She was brought to DunRoamin' for help, and was given the medical care she required. With nutrition, love and patience, she flourished. On June 23, 2010, Dandy met the lady who would change her life forever. Dandy now lives in the Knowlesville area with the woman who loves her and will give her the life she deserves. We're very grateful for your concern for Dandy. Thank you for all you do for these strays.

Jada is an eight-month-old German Shepherd who was rescued by an SPCA officer from an area near Hartland, NB and came to DunRoamin' on June 14, 2010. She had been surviving on her own by eating dead chickens from a chicken coop. She had never been spayed, and was not at all familiar with the life of an indoor dog, including how to act on a leash or with people. However, she's an extremely quick study, and was soon doing exceptionally well, wanting only to please people. On June 14, 2010, she met a couple from the Florenceville area who recognized her goodness and her potential to be an excellent companion and best friend. She now has a real life to look forward to with a family who will love her forever. Congratulations, Jada. You're about to have the experience of your life!!

This is "Pearl." She came to DunRoamin' on May 8, 2010 as a result of having been rescued by an SPCA officer. She's about six months old, but was nowhere near the size she should be. She's a Sharpei mix, and has a beautiful personality. Pearl had a wound between her eyes, on her neck, an ulcerated infection on her jaw, and several bite wounds, probably from other dogs. She was very heavily parazitized with fleas and worms which forced her belly to be distended. She was malnourished and in pretty rough shape. Pearl was treated and did very well. She stayed with three other dogs whom she loved, and had started to play with them. On May 11, 2010, she was kindly taken in by a DunRoamin' supporter where she learned love and security with this lady and her two ex-DunRoamin' dogs. She loves kids, and gets very excited around them On May 20, 2010, Pearl was adopted by a wonderful family in Florenceville where she'll be the newest friend of two daughters and their parents. Congratulations, Pearl. You couldn't have chosen a better family! Send us lots of photos!

Sterling, a five-year old Shihtzu, came to us on March 25, 2010 from the Woodstock area. He had been struck by a vehicle and as a result had lacerations and abrasions on his left hind leg, instability in his hock joint, and pulmonary contusions (bruises on his lungs). His owners were unable to undertake the financial requirements for his surgery, so he was accepted by DunRoamin'. He underwent surgery to repair his injury, and had a cast placed on his leg, but it didn't stop him from getting around! He was fostered by one of DunRoamin's best supporters in the Perth area while he waited for his permanent home. He's a beautiful little boy who loves cars and kids and everything else!! On May 21, 2010, Sterling met his new permanent family and went to live with them in Jacksontown. Now called "Scrappy," he has two new cat friends, Casey and Sassy. He likes to sleep between them on the couch with his feet in the air! Congratulations, Sterling!!

Catherine was one of six little puppies who came to DunRoamin' on May 11, 2010. A lady from the Saint Anne, NB area took them into a shelter and turned around to leave. When the shelter workers told her that they had absolutely no more room and that there was a very good chance that they would have to be euthanized, her response was that she didn't care. Every shelter in western NB was contacted, but not one had space that was not already filled with unwanted pets. The six puppies, all female, were six-week old Lab/Collie mixed breeds. They had worms which were immediately treated, but were otherwise healthy and eating on their own. DunRoamin' could not allow six healthy babies to be killed, so they came to us, with the help of a wonderful and compassionate SPCA officer. On May 14, 2010, a lady from Beechwood met Catherine, and was immediately taken with her. Catherine now lives happily ever after with her new family, and today is the first day of the rest of her life!!! Congratulations!

On May 17, 2010, it was confirmed that Anne is now a member of a wonderful family Greenfield. Her new mother is studying to become a veterinarian, so we know she's in excellent hands. On May 13, 2010, a very nice couple from Florenceville met Victoria, and the rest, as they say, is history! Victoria now lives happily with this couple, their two kids, and their dog, who will become Victoria's newest friend. Thank you very much!! Have a great life, Victoria!

Meet "Isabella." On May 11, 2010, a lady from the Saint Anne, NB, area walked into a shelter with six tiny puppies and turned around to leave. When the shelter workers told her that they had absolutely no more room and that there was a very good chance that they would have to be euthanized, her response was that she didn't care. Isabella was one of the six. Every shelter in western NB was contacted, but not a single one had space that was not already filled with unwanted pets. The six puppies, all female, were six-week old Lab/Collie mixed breeds. They had worms, which were immediately treated, but were otherwise healthy and eating on their own. DunRoamin' could not see six healthy puppies die for no reason, so they came to us with the help of a wonderful and compassionate SPCA Officer. On May 13, 2010, Isabella met a young man from Hartland. He has a 1 1/2 year-old baby and two cats, and they all invited Isabella to join their family. Congratulations to everyone!

This is "Zane," a four-month old Shepherd puppy. He came from the Tobique area where he had eaten some insulation which made him very sick. He was surrendered to the SPCA, and they brought him to us for help on May 5, 2010. Zane was treated with intravenous fluids, pain medication, antibiotics and nausea medications. As you can see by the picture, he became much better very quickly. He's a very nice little boy who is quiet, loving, playful and very grateful to be well. On May 13, 2010, Zane became the newest member of a family in Nackawic where he will be the younger brother to another dog. Congratulations, Zane!!

This little guy has been named "Brad." He's about ten or twelve weeks old, and he's a Lab/Pittbull-mix puppy. He was abandoned and picked up by the SPCA. He then ended up at a shelter, but they were overwhelmed with puppies, and no one seemed to want him. He had a scratch injury on his right eye from a cat which necessitated the removal of his eye. He came to DunRoamin' on December 5, 2009. Brad is a very nice young boy, but he was scared because he'd been through a lot. He had a fear aggression problem because he was probably beaten, but he overcame it with lots of love and security. He loves car rides, loves his crate, loves other dogs and most of all he loves to snuggle! On May 11, 2010, Brad met a very nice gentleman who welcomed Brad into his family which includes a cat and another pitbull dog, so Brad will have plenty of company in his new home in Woodstock. Congratulations!

Ellie was seen running loose in the Holmesville area for about two months. She's between three and five years old, and is a Collie cross. Two families were trying to care for her, but when they noticed she was limping, they called the SPCA to help her. She was brought to the Clinic where it was learned that her right elbow had been dislocated and broken and it had begun to fuse. She was in a lot of pain. Her best option was to have her leg amputated, so she was accepted by DunRoamin' on April 9, 2010, so she could have the surgery. Ellie's surgery was completed, and she stayed in a foster home while she was recovering. On April 23, 2010, she went to live with a wonderful lady in Bath to see if she'd like to live there permanently with her, her other dog, and three cats On May 11, 2010, we learned that Ellie is now a permanent member of the family! She has the most wonderful home ever, and a very caring family. Congratulations to everyone!

Cleveland came to DunRoamin' on March 11, 2010. He had originally come from Ohio, USA, where he had been a trucker's dog. The trucker was unable to tolerate Cleveland's puppy antics, and decided to throw him out in Houlton, Maine. Cleveland had not been neutered. Fortunately, the Ark Sanctuary saved him, and he eventually came to DunRoamin' to find a home. He was about five months old, healthy, energetic, friendly, outgoing and loving. Cleveland also loves other dogs. He is most probably a Pug cross. On March 12, 2010, Cleveland was adopted by a gentleman who had been looking for a friend exactly like him. He now lives with this gentleman in Bath, NB, where he'll be safe, loved and never have to worry about being thrown out ever again. Thanks to his new family for taking him in.

PJ came to DunRoamin' on September 16, 2010, after having been observed wandering the streets of Bath for quite some time. No one bothered to help him until he met a lady who recognized his distress and brought him to DunRoamin'. PJ is a large white mixed-breed dog who was in very bad shape. He was filthy dirty, skinny, and had terrible skin and ear infections. The skin was dirty and missing from both his chest and back, and he was extremely uncomfortable. He had obviously been this way for quite some time for this amount of damage to have been done to his skin. PJ was placed on medications and quickly became happy and healthy. He has a beautiful personality and loves all things that move - from balls to other dogs to humans! He's very grateful to have relief from the terrible pain and discomfort he has been experiencing. On December 9, 2010, it became official. PJ became the newest member of a family in Tracey Mills, where he's flourishing like he should! It's amazing what a little love and care can do! Merry Christmas, everyone!
